If being a military spouse has taught me one thing, it's that the friends you make are the ones that become your family. I have known Kylea and her husband Jason since the beginning of our journey in the Coast Guard, and I have watched their love grow into marriage, with Kylea moving with Jason from Portsmouth, to Cape Cod, to Elizabethtown, and finally to San Diego. Throughout all those moves, we have always maintained a connection, even though we only see each other once a year - if we're lucky. I was so excited to find out they were expecting, and even more excited two weeks ago when Kylea told me she was making a trip to New Hampshire... would I be around to come visit and maybe take some pictures? I made the trip New Year's Day, and I couldn't imagine a better way to kick off the New Year.
